Did you know that around 14,000 kids across the Omaha metro will lie down tonight… on a couch, on the floor, or on anything they can find? We want to change that! We have lots of opportunities to step in and impact lives.

Sleep in Heavenly Peace (SHP) is a remarkable organization that builds, assembles, and delivers high-quality beds — complete with mattresses and bedding — to children who don’t have one of their own. Their motto says it all: “No kid sleeps on the floor in our town!”

Normally, we meet them at their warehouse in Millard, but this time it’s different! SHP is bringing the build to the church! This is more than a service project —
• It’s a chance to be the hands and feet of Jesus.
• It’s a chance to build community while building beds.
• It’s a chance to change a child’s life with a few hours of joyful, meaningful work.

WE are partnering with our friends at SHP in our church parking lot to cut, sand, assemble, stain, and prepare beautiful new bed kits that will soon bless families across our city.

If you can hold a piece of sandpaper, cheer people on, or smile while stacking wood... you’re qualified. SHP runs a smooth, safe, well-organized operation with something for every age and skill level.

Who Can Serve:
Everyone. Kids 8+ welcome; children under 12 must serve with an adult.

Childcare – Kids too young to serve? WE will host childcare in the WE Kids classroom 114, from 8:30 to 4:00 for those serving at this event. Kids from birth up to 8 are welcome.  Click this link: SHP Build Day Childcare and register each child who will be at church in childcare so we can staff effectively.

What to Expect:
Even though we'll be outside on our church parking lot, there will be noise, sawdust, and tools. SHP provides safety glasses and hearing protection — but feel free to bring your own if you prefer a perfect fit.

What to Wear:

• Weather-appropriate clothes
• Closed-toe shoes
• Jeans or comfortable work clothes
• Your WE Serve T-shirt (email tim@weomaha.com if you need one)

8:30–12:00
12:30–4:00
