Who WE Are

The Water’s Edge is a Church For EVERYBODY.

We are individuals and families. Neighbors and friends. We welcome everybody, and that means anybody. Our mission, vision, and values express how we practice Christianity.

Mission

To lead people into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ and each other.

Vision

To be a church that relentlessly pursues a transforming relationship with God, generously extends hope to the hurting, sacrificially serves our families, and radically invests in the next generation.

Core Values

We trust in God with our past, present, and future. We believe God’s promises and seek to grow deeper in our relationship with Him.

Jesus loves and invests in kids—likewise, we radically invest in children, students, and their families.

We invite and welcome everyone regardless of who they are or where they are in life. We do this the same way Jesus invited and welcomed those he encountered.

God is generous, and we reflect God’s generosity. We give our prayers, time, energy, talents, and finances to resource what God is doing in us and through us.

Jesus met people where they were, and so do we. We believe the teachings of Jesus are more relevant than ever, and we seek to apply these teachings to our lives.

Jesus came to the world as a servant, and we look most like Jesus when we serve. We serve our church, our city, and our world together.

We value community by intentionally connecting and caring for each other in House Churches, serving teams, and other ministries. We do our best to live out Christ’s command to love others.

God intends our lives to be joy-filled so we have fun and experience joy that comes from our growing relationships with God and with each other.

Our History

The Water’s Edge started in the fall of 2005 when our first House Church (small group) began meeting in a crowded basement near 173rd and Harrison Street with the dream of planting a church that would connect people in West Omaha, Gretna, Elkhorn, Ashland, and beyond. In 2006, WE launched worship at Russell Middle School, and from 2007 to 2018, WE primarily met at Millard West High School. As the congregation expanded, additional worship times were added to accommodate all the new people.

WE purchased 26 acres of land in 2012. WE built the first phase of our current facility, which WE moved into in March 2018. As our church family grew, the building was expanded significantly in August 2023. Our property is being developed, too, and currently includes a community center, outdoor playground, pavilion, sand volleyball courts, a cornhole pit, a gaga ball pit, a natural prairie, and a prayer path. The Water’s Edge Church is dedicated to serving the community and providing welcoming spaces for seekers, neighbors, groups, families, individuals, and children. Whether you are looking for a place to worship or simply a place to connect with others, WE exist for you.
