Care Ministry

“We were glad to share not only God’s good news with you but also our very lives because we cared for you so much.”

– I Thessalonians 2:8

WE Care Ministry

Care ministry is the heart of the church and essential for growth in today’s evolving Christian community. Inspired by Jesus, the ultimate healer, we strive to follow His example by providing meaningful care and support, walking with those in need through life’s peaks and valleys.

“Care” is the action word for kindness, compassion, connection, love, and justice.  As we seek to care for others in the example modeled by Jesus, we begin by being rooted in the ministry of Jesus and our theology.  Our training program takes faithful lay leaders on a journey of the theology of care, and then out of that flows practical tools for caring ministry.

We address the following:
  •  how to pray with someone
  •  listening skills
  •  appropriate boundaries and confidentiality
  •  how to offer spiritual guidance
  •  visitation skills for in-home, care homes, and hospitals
  •  care for the dying and grief follow up

WE want to create a culture of care throughout the church and community. One way we provide excellent ministry is in the partnership between WE Care Ministers and our pastors. With a congregation of our size, we rely on trained WE Care Ministers to serve along with our pastors and staff in making hospital visits, following up on prayer requests, providing one-on-one support for those facing difficult issues, and much more.

Those Who Need...

Assistance

Through the generosity of our people, The Water’s Edge is able to offer one-time financial gifts to people who find themselves in need. Gifts are available only after other community resources have been exhausted. Note: gifts are never made directly to individuals, rather to landlords, utility companies, gas stations, etc. To donate to our Helping Hands Fund or to request assistance, email our team now.

Pastoral Care in Emergencies

Sometimes in life and in death, a pastor is needed. Should you have an emergency and need to speak to a pastor, call the church office at (402) 952-4473. During the evenings and weekends, call the same number and you will receive instructions on how to contact a pastor.
